Fatal Dispute: Tenant Kills Landlord

During a drunken argument, a tenant fatally stabbed his landlord and fled to the capital. The offender will serve nine years behind bars for his crime.

The incident occurred in March of last year in the apartment of a 63-year-old resident of Odessa on Breus Street. When he stopped responding to calls from friends, they contacted the police. Upon investigation, officers found him unresponsive at home.

Initial investigations revealed that the death was linked to a 53-year-old tenant from another region who had rented a room from him for several weeks.

It was discovered that a day before the body was found, a conflict erupted between the men over differing views on life, during which the tenant stabbed the landlord multiple times. After committing the crime, he fled to Kyiv, where he was soon apprehended by the police.

Forensic experts utilized a mobile DNA lab to analyze biological evidence collected during the initial investigation, confirming the suspect's involvement in the crime. The autopsy revealed that the cause of death was penetrating stab wounds to the chest, damaging the lungs.

According to Mykola Kulchytskyi, the head of Police Department No. 1 of the Odessa District Police, the suspect was placed in custody at the request of the police. After gathering enough evidence, the investigators charged him with murder and submitted the indictment to court under part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

After reviewing the case materials and evidence provided by law enforcement, the court found the defendant guilty of murdering the landlord and sentenced him to nine years in prison. The defendant admitted his guilt and expressed deep remorse for his actions.
