Yarmolenko Reacts to National Team Omission

Dynamo defender Andriy Yarmolenko commented on the decision of Ukraine's head coach Serhiy Rebrov not to call him up for the Nations League matches this fall.

Yarmolenko spoke about it during a podcast with Denys Boyko.

"Honestly, it was unpleasant, but these things happen in football. I understood that if I wasn't called up, it means I'm not worthy of being on the national team, and right now there are players who can deliver better results.

So, of course, after being called up for the national team for 15 years straight, if you're not injured, and this is the first time it happens, I think anyone would feel a bit upset.

But what can you do? This is football and life. It's good; it means I need to work harder, and maybe next time I will be called up again.", Yarmolenko shared.

In March, Yarmolenko returned to the national team and came on as a substitute in the second Nations League playoff match against Belgium (0:3).

This season, the 35-year-old player has scored 10 goals and provided an assist in 30 matches for Dynamo. Recently, he marked his 113th goal in the UPL, tying the record of Serhiy Rebrov.

Recently, the player discussed extending his contract with the Kyiv club.
