Sea Tragedy: Crew Casualties
Following a Russian attack, two crew members have died, and several are missing.
On the Day of Remembrance for Defenders of Ukraine, Odesa has ceremoniously opened a new Memorial Alley dedicated to the heroes who fell in defense of our country.
Hundreds of residents gathered to honor the memory of defenders, including local officials, military personnel, veterans, and families of the fallen.
Ruslan Prykhodko, Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs, expressed gratitude to the team that brought this significant initiative to life:
«This place is not just for remembrance, but also for strengthening our national identity».
Currently, over 200 names are displayed on the Alley of Heroes in Taras Shevchenko Park, yet the number of fallen heroes is much larger.
Odesa's Mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov, noted that the Alley will be expanded with the names of defenders who have fought for Ukraine since 2014.
Work is also underway to create a Memorial at one of the city's cemeteries in collaboration with the parents of the fallen.
Additionally, improvements are ongoing at the Glory and Freedom Park, as well as the Memorial to the Fighters for Ukraine.
«For me, these are not just projects; they symbolize our memory, our gratitude, and our promise to never forget! They are places where we can gather and support one another in times of remembrance,» - emphasized Hennadiy Trukhanov.
Together, we preserve the memory of those who lost their lives, and collectively we will continue their mission, building a better future for all of us.
