The Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, held a video conference with Mr. Nino Haaze, the mayor of Mainz. 

During the discussion, the parties addressed the signing of a partnership agreement between the cities. 

This decision has already received support from the city councils of both Odesa and Mainz. 

They also explored collaboration opportunities in cultural, social, bioenergy, and IT sectors. 

The Mayor of Odesa highlighted the significant contribution of Germans to the city's development in the early 19th century and expressed hope for a revival of this collaboration today. 

«Despite the challenges, we continue to move forward through unity and partnership», — stated the Mayor of Odesa. 

Since 2022, Mainz has been welcoming Ukrainian refugees, creating conditions for their social and cultural integration. 

Hennadiy Trukhanov expressed gratitude to the German people for their incredible support and shared details about the recent attacks on Odesa. 

«The most horrifying aspect of this war is its targeting of civilians and the culture of Ukraine. We are committed to helping and aiming for long-term collaboration», - said the Mayor of Mainz. 

Mr. Nino Haaze noted that Mainz is the most dynamic city in Germany, and he sees the same potential in Odesa. He also expressed confidence that the partnership agreement between our cities will benefit both nations.
