Protecting Urban Infrastructure: The Importance of Careful Stewardship

The municipal enterprise «Service Center» oversees numerous urban maintenance objects throughout Odesa.

This includes 45 monumental artworks not classified as cultural heritage and 4 installations at city entrances.

Additionally, the enterprise manages 27 fountains and 16 drinking water complexes.

Each day, municipal workers inspect designated areas to identify acts of vandalism and respond promptly to damages.

In the past nine months, around thirty vandalism incidents have been reported, including graffiti, damage to paving, and fountain elements.

Service Center specialists quickly address vandalism aftermath and repair affected objects.

The Odesa city council urges residents to treat public property with care and report vandalism at: 102 (police).

Deliberate damage to city property can lead to criminal liability.

Article 194. Intentional destruction or damage to property
1. Intentional destruction or damage to someone else's property causing significant harm is punishable by a fine of up to fifty untaxed minimum incomes, or community service from one hundred twenty to two hundred forty hours, or imprisonment for up to three years.

Article 296. Hooliganism
1. Hooliganism, defined as a gross violation of public order out of obvious disrespect for society, is punishable by a fine of five hundred to one thousand untaxed minimum incomes, or arrest for up to six months, or imprisonment for up to five years.
