Collaboration Between Odesa and UITP to Enhance Public Transport

The Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, held a crucial working meeting with Mr. Mohamed Mezghani, the Secretary General of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), during the largest international transport exhibition InnoTrans - 2024 in Berlin.

During the meeting, key challenges faced by Odesa in recent years were discussed: the need for updating the rolling stock of electric transport and buses, increasing pressure on the transport network due to a rise in passenger numbers, inclusion issues, the transition to cashless payments, and blackout risks.

Mr. Mezghani expressed UITP's readiness to support Odesa in addressing its transport problems. He noted that UITP brings together over 1900 member organizations from more than 100 countries, including city administrations, operating organizations, and transport operators.

Following the discussions, it was decided that Odesa would send a request for the renewal of its bus fleet, and UITP would assist in implementing this as part of humanitarian aid.

Additionally, both parties agreed to participate in a joint stand for the cities of Odesa and Hamburg at the upcoming UITP Summit in Hamburg next year.
