Accessibility Enhancements in Odesa
Odesa is enhancing accessibility: new ramps installed at pedestrian crossings.
On November 1st, Poland celebrates All Saints' Day, when cemeteries are traditionally illuminated with thousands of candles.
In Odesa, a ceremony was held to light candles and lay flowers on the 6th km of the Ovidiopol Road.
This event was organized to honor the memory of the victims of mass political repressions of the 1930s, which claimed thousands of lives, including Poles.
The ceremony was attended by Odesa's Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov, the Consul General of Poland in Odesa Jacek Gocłowski, as well as representatives of the diaspora and Polish community organizations in the city.
The Mayor introduced the newly appointed consul to the history of this tragic site and the efforts made prior to the full-scale invasion to honor the memory of repression victims and document the crimes of the Soviet regime.
During the dialogue, it was noted that Poland is aware of this site and respects the attitude towards memory demonstrated by the residents of Odesa.
Mr. Gocłowski stated that the consulate, the diaspora, and Poland will provide support and assistance in implementing the project after Ukraine's victory.
